An OPEN LETTER to COLORADANS FOR JUSTICE
from COLORADANS FOR JUSTICE IN PALESTINE
Loving Greetings to our Friends,                                                            December 12, 2014

In the midst of this continuing emergency confronting our communities of color in Denver, in Ferguson, in New York . . . indeed, throughout the nation and around the world, we believe it is imperative that we declare our stand in solidarity with you. We offer you our aid, our outrage, our time, our voices, our resources and our lives. Since the propaganda machines arrayed against us in our common struggles are so pervasive, so powerful, and so deeply dishonest, let us be clear at the outset: We have no intention of co-opting, obscuring, or appropriating the struggle right here in our midst to defend the lives of Black people, especially young Black men and children.

We have been to the rallies, marches, and direct actions; and we have heard the righteous and necessary warning that the slogan “BLACK LIVES MATTER” must not be changed to “All Lives Matter” or any other cry that dilutes or obfuscates the emergency at hand, and which you have formed yourselves to confront. We have seen and heard the messages of solidarity, friendship, and shared anguish coming from Ferguson to Gaza and the West Bank, just as we have seen and heard these messages reciprocated. We have no need to impose our struggle upon yours, because it was really our struggle, too, all along.

On Friday the 5th of December, at Shorter AME Church in Denver, the gathered community heard from a delegation of Denver activists who had just returned from Ferguson. Coloradans for Justice were there to hear that delegation’s testimony, as was at least one of our number. The Ferguson Freedom Riders were escorted during their sojourn in Ferguson by Anthony Grimes, who testified that, before going to Missouri, he had been to occupied Palestine........Read entire letter
